Now there are many reasons why people like memes, naturally…but….
I have noticed that one major use of memes is to combat outrage culture. There’s times when someone is so angry and so outraged and their anger so misplaced that we use absurdity to morph something that is full of hate into something that is full of laughter and amusement.
Memes are a way to disempower outrage culture, and a way that we have learned to cope with things that we think are maybe being taken a little too seriously.

Fuck you, dad
troubled war veteran is, quite literally, haunted by his former emo phase
the officer passed a no goth rule and his mortal enemy - his son - seeks revenge
twink about to make his move on a potential sugar daddy
either you’ve all seen the show or this is a testament to the power of art

Someone is jealous
“The whole gospel of Karl Marx can be summed up in a single sentence: Hate the man who is better off than you are. Never under any circumstances admit that his success may be due to his own efforts, to the productive contribution he has made to the whole community. Always attribute his success to the exploitation, the cheating, the more or less open robbery of others. Never under any circumstances admit that your own failure may be owing to your own weakness, or that the failure of anyone else may be due to his own defects - his laziness, incompetence, improvidence, or stupidity.” - Henry Hazlitt

Saudi police officers hand out roses to female drivers. (Today is the first-day women can legally drive in Saudi Arabia)
I know this might have been posted in good intentions but can we not romanticize this please. I know y’all are going to say to celebrate small victories but the very female women who fought for this to happen are being arrested in Saudi Arabia and put in jail. Rape and Death threats are being made. This isn’t a happy ending and it’s really isrresponsible to post a romanticized version of female oppression.
This is a huge PR campaign made to highlight MBS’s faux ‘progressive’ vision for a country that has and always will remain fascistic at best. Shia Muslim minors in Saudi Arabia are getting beheaded for protesting their government. The activists who wanted to legalize women driving are in jail and rotting away rn as CNN and Reuters post garbage articles like this. Saudi Arabia promotes the killing of Shias worldwide by exporting their extremist curriculum abroad and funding death squads. The fact in 2018 women have been made able drive when they already should’ve had this right (lmao) is only a distraction from the fact that they are the largest killer of children in the world as reported by even the U.N. They are starving the people of Yemen and destroying entire countries. Please read these articles critically and remember that THIS is what propaganda looks like
